Willy has his blog hosted on Blogger.
Willy has bought a domain somewhere else.
Willy wants to keep ranking and everything he has on blogger but be recognized on other domain.
Blogger says just go to other domain and redirect.
Blogger then says on settings to click on on domain. When Willy does this - all goes blank
Can someone tell me how to make this work?
10-4 Willy
Hi Willy,
ReplyDeletethanks for dropping in yesterday. I have been trying to get in but blogger keeps blocking.
I was going to send you a message via EC if this didn't work.
I have no clue how you do that.
Have you tried asking in any forums anywhere?
Maybe someone in the EC forums could help.
Also I do appreciate and respect your opinions. And I am glad you dropped by and left a comment.
But I try not to discuss politics too much on my site. I did release your comment and I replied.
But please I am a site that wishes to focus on the positive.
I commented here because you are a news and political blog.
I will always check back for responses when I drop around.
I myself do not believe in abortion and would never ever under any circumstances choose it as an alternative for myself.
But women have been aborting their babies almost since the very start of our creation.
And to believe that they will ever stop is just not realistic. So I find it more humane for the mother and most especially for the poor baby to have access to a proper DR.
That seems so less cruel than them butchering them selves and their babies with coat hangers and unqualified people on the streets.
My question for McCain is why if he professes to be a Christian then why does he keep refusing baptism?
That and his involvement with Bush bothers me much more than the sound of a man's name. I am not prejudice. We are all God's children...not just a few.
So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree but isn't that what a Democracy is about?
I do so hope you get your problem fixed here. Because I did have problems getting in today.
Good Luck!!:-)
Hi Willy,
ReplyDeleteI hope you get your problem resolved. I was going to drop a card on Willy, but Willy seems to have misplaced his widget :). See you another day...Jude
Willy, what I think you need is some code called a 301 Redirect. Because you have a Blogger blog, there are some special things you have to do. I can't remember them right now, so I'll search around and see if I can find anything.
ReplyDeleteI do know it can be done, and I don't think it's very hard. So hang in there.
Well I did a little searching... I don't know much this will help you. I did the same thing a year ago-- I had blogspot blogs, I bought my own domain, and I set some settings within Blogger to redirect.
ReplyDeleteA few things first: did you buy a domain name from Google (through your Blogger dashboard settings) or from GoDaddy or someone? If you got it through GoDaddy or someone, you may be able to change some DNS settings through your account dashboard. I suggest you look through the GoDaddy help page or call them to guide you through it.
If you bought it from Google, you need to go to >>>Dashboard >> Settings >> Publishing and see if it is automatically redirecting. It should do it.
I hate to tell you, but you will probably lose your rankings, because Blogger doesn't give you access to your "inner" files, like .htaccess files. Blogger is seeing your redirect as a new blog, it's just including the old stuff with the new domain. That's what I have read. Things may have changed, maybe there's another way? I'm going to keep looking, but I wanted to give you the lowdown so far. Hope it helps.
Here are some really great tutorials I found that will help you.

Every article has good information. Because I don't know the details of your situation, I tried to cover all the bases.
Remember when you transfer your old domain name to a new fomain name usind GoDaddy (or whoever), this DNS tranfer may take 24-72 hours to go into affect. Mine took about 6 hours when I did it. Until it transfers, viewers will get a "website not found" page.
I hope this information works for you.
Thanks Shinade for the comment. Not trying to intrude politics on your blog. Agreed - We can agree to disagree.
ReplyDeleteThanks Willy
Thanks Ms Mecomber
ReplyDeleteLots of good info. Willy is going to check it out.

Oh Willy I see you got it fixed. I was headed to bed but wanted to drop back in and check on you.
ReplyDeleteAnd here it is your card and everything.

Oh yes Willy I keep forgetting to tell you.
ReplyDeleteI spent half of my childhood years in Ashdown Arkansas. I still have some family there but I haven't seen them in years.
My dad's had a sister who lived there.
I have a terrible cold and I am headed to bed!!

Shinade,
ReplyDeleteWhere are you located now. I am originally a Texan, misplaced in Arkansas.
Are you in Oklahoma?
Hope you have a good evening.
yes I am in Oklahoma. I was born in Gladewater,TX. My parents ran a little store there called Butler's groceries. and my dad worked for the power company.
ReplyDeleteHe was a lineman until he took a bad fall and permanently crippled a finger. Then back to Ashdown we went and he started driving a truck again.
I have lived in Clarksville, Paris, and then when I was 9 we finally settled in Dallas.
So to me Dallas is home. And my husband is from Plano.
Please let me know where you are from. It is a small world.
I am related to just about every Soape in east Texas. I am adopted and Soape is my biological family.
My mom and dad, the Butlers took me home from the hospital when I was 3 days old.
oh before I go I need to let you know that my blog will be down sometime in the next couple of hours. I am getting a make over too.
Oh boy I see blogger still has you trapped. Once they get you it's hard to get away.:-)
