The Cantina Rocks

Willy told you yesterday that the folks down at Juanita's Road Kill Grill and Cantina were wanting Blanche Lincoln to lose.  Well, she didn't lose but she didn't win.  Bill Halter took her on and has taken this thing to a runoff.

Juanita was not for Bill Halter but she was hoping that it might be Bill Halter against Boozeman in the fall.   Juanita believes that Boozeman (Booze - sounds like he spends time at the Cantina but Willy knows he don't do that sort of thing) can beat Halter.

Keep in touch here.  Willy will have more to say about the elections now and as they proceed in the future.

Willy checks out the Candidates at the Cantina

Willy went down to Juanita's Road Kill Grill and Cantina yesterday evening to see how many of the candidates had been buy the Cantina trying to get your vote.  Well, here is what Willy found out.

Blanche Lincoln had been buy wearing a silly hat saying something like "when a women wears a hat she means business"  Well, Sammy Bob yelled out that she looked as bad as his ugly ex wife and he could not vote for someone that was that ugly.

Billy Bob asked her how she stood on a couple of issues and by the time she had gotten through talking out of both sides of her mouth and lying both times, Billy Bob took another drink and declared that she was still ugly.

Juanita said the Robbie Wills had been buy and just kept playing with that little block that he uses in his advertisement and calls a "do nothing"  He declared that in serving Arkansas he would do 10 times what this little tool does.  Well, Willy aint good at math but 10 x 0 is still NOTHING.

Then there was Gilbert Baker.  He kept asking "Where is the Pulpit"  He likes that ad where he stands out in the field acting like a preacher and yelling and looking a little like a crazed farmer in a suit.  The problem is that Gilbert probably never touched a drink in his life but he sometimes comes across looking sillier than Sammy Joe after a big Saturday night at the Cantina and just wanders around looking silly.   Is there substance there.  Maybe so.  Willy secretly kind of likes this guy.

So does Juanita think you should do at the poll today.  She believes that you should vote for Democrat and for Bill Halter.  She believes that this would get rid of Blanche Lincoln regardless.  Then she would want you to vote in the General election later as Republican and vote for Boozeman to beat Halter.

Well, that is what Willy learned at the Cantina.  Can you VOTE AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Get Quiet Willy!

Early morning is supposed to be quiet around Willy's house. Many times Willy gets up at 5:30 or so and Mrs. Willy does not need to get up until 7. This creates what is supposed to be quiet time. Mrs Willy remains asleep and Willy remains quiet so she can sleep.

When Willy is not quiet Willy gets accused of being Willy's Mother - God Rest her Sole. She could not be quiet and was always banging pots and pans very early in the morning.

Well, today was one of those days.

First act of the morning is to get the dog some food from the garage. Coming in from the garage with the bowl of dog food Willy hit the edge of the door and the food and bowl went everywhere. In cleaning it up Willy used a dust pan and scraped the floor. More noise. The cry came "What are you doing"

Willy went to the kitchen to get some yogurt out of the fridge. When Willy picked up the container Willy hit a lid on the roast dish and it fell off the dish onto the shelf. More noise.

However, now the coffee is cooking and the wife is getting up. Can Willy make some noise now.

Hillbilly and the frog.

There once was a Hillbilly who wanted to become a Prince. The Hillbilly was so dumb and ugly that he even thought if he kissed a frog that it would cause him to turn into a handsome Prince. Then the Hillbilly could feel good about trying to marry Daisy Mae - the most beautiful Hillbillyess in America.

So Willy the Hillbilly went out to find a frog. He found a real big female bullfrog and proceeded to try to kiss the frog.

The frog spit in his face and the Hillbilly turned not into a handsome Prince that would be loved by Daisy Mae, but into an ugly old Donald Trump - Rich and ugly.

What happened --- Daisy Mae saw Willy and married him anyway and he was completely trumped up into the idea that he could actually buy cosmetic surgery that would keep him rich but Princely and they all lived happily ever after.

HUHHHHH.....

Moms

Willy don’t pass on many of these things but this one says it all – Moms make the world happen.   10-4 Willy

JUST A MOM?

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office, was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.

She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

"What I mean is," explained the recorder, "Do you have a job or are you just a ....?"

"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.

"I'm a Mom."

"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'Housewife' covers it, said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.  The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like, "Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar."

"What is your occupation?" she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know the words simply popped out.  "I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations."

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.  Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written, in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest, "just what you do in your field?"

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, "I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't) In the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out).  I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).  But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money."

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.  Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern.  I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!  And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."

Motherhood!

What a glorious career!  Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers "Senior Research associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations"
And great grandmothers "Executive Senior Research Associates?"  I think so!!!
I also think it makes Aunts "Associate Research Assistants."

Willy - Research - Reading.

APPALACHIANSHillbilly: The Real Story (The History Channel) Willy is studying the real story of the Hillbilly and have found a few things at Amazon that really help in this study.  One of these is History Channel: Hillbilly - The Real Story and the other is APPALACHIANSwhich probably tells more of the real story of the person known as a Hillbilly.

If that is not your taste Willy has always been a big fan of the Western Novel.  Willy has always thought about reading things such as Lonesome Dove and in that same vein a book of photographs which is A Book of Photographs from Lonesome Dove (Wittliff Gallery of Southwestern and Mexican Photography) is very interesting.

Regardless of what you are looking for, it is important to read and learn each and every day and Amazon is a good source for finding a good read.

That is my Story today.
