Press one for English?

I borrowed this one from the Hermit.

Excuse the mild curse word. I don't usually use this word in this context but this seems so appropriate.

It infuriates me to have to dial 1 for english.

Also, my bank ATM asks if you prefer Spanish or English. Why should I have to make a choice.

I'll tell you something that will make you even madder. I taught 5th grade in public school from 1999 through 2003. I usually had a class of around 32 kids, and an average of 6 of those per year would be the kids of illegals, who spoke zero English. I was REQUIRED by my principal to spend a minimum of 45 minutes a day working SOLELY with the non English speakers. That meant my American kids, some 28 of so of them, spent that 45 minutes every day doing busy work. I was not allowed to stop working with the Hispanics even to help the other kids with the busy work. After 3 years of classroom teaching I couldn't stand it anymore and quit. I could tell you a lot more horror stories about illegals in public schools, but it's just too depressing.
