More Hillbilly?

In the last Blog I asked for three sentences describing your idea of a Hillbilly. Well Hillbillies are good folks but they do love a good time.

This cartoon still represents what 90% of America thinks of when they hear the word Hillbilly! Hope this funny doesn't offend anyone - but here goes!

Cantina Visit and Hog Poll

It is time for Willy to go down to the local Hogs Breath - Road Kill - Possum Grit Cafe and Cantina and see what the pulse here is on the Arkansas Razorbacks. For you see here in Arkansas, the Razorbacks are much like a religion. There is great expectations for power and winning but often comes dissappointment and heart ache.

What about you Juanita - what do you think - Fire Houston Nutt - OK

What about you LeRoy Joe - Bring back Malahazan - get us some offense.

What about you Billy Bob - Lets try Bruce James - I believe he could coach us!

What about you Sammy Raye - Got any more BBQ - I'm Hungry - Gave up on the Hogs last year!

There you have it from the Cantina - All in Favor of doing something different.

Willy - Secretary of Agriculture for Texas Fred!

Copied from Willy's Other Blog at Life In America

What a privilege it is!

I have been nominated by Texas Fred to be a member of his cabinet in his bid for the Presidency.

I have the privilege in the fact that the original name of my site was Agriculture in America - Since changed to Life in America - as Secretary of Agriculture.

I am a little upset however and would like to make a pitch that as editor in Chief of the blog -
Hillbilly Willy that I didn't get Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Nobody knows doublewides, polyster curtains, and suburban development like Willy does.

Also, Willy is the author of the blog Arkansas -
A great Place to Live. And we all know that Arkansas is the great home of Ms. Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Mike Huckabee. What better credentials does Willy need than that to be at Least VP under the Great Texas Fred. Also, I originated in Fred's Home state of Texas. GREAT QUALIFICATIONS FOR WHATEVER!

EXCUSE ME FOR A WHILE - WILLY GOT TO GET BACK ON THE TRASH TRUCK AND FINISH MY ROUTE!

Here is his list for Cabinet Members:

Vice President: American and Proud
Sec. of Defense: Long Live the Republic
Sec. of State: Jenn of the JungleS

Madam President - Willy Fears that Clinton Wins!

This is a repost of something I did early in the year. The
trouble is that it is looking more likely every day!

Read and enjoy or shudder in fear!
_______________________________________

OR AS WILLY SAYS "LOOK OUT MAMA, ITS COLD IN THE OUTHOUSE!"

Willy done have this fear running through his spine this week! Willy done had a dream that he woke up and it was the day after election day November 2008.

Willy done heard somebody say "Madam President"

Willy done got real sick and thats when he shouts them famous words that Willy has only said before when he done ate the night before at "Senor Rednecks Mexican food and Cantina"

Willy done shouts "Look out Mama - its cold in the outhouse"

As Willy's dream continues on that dread Morning after election, he gets sick and Willy done ran into the outhouse to take care of what ails him. Heaving and tossing Willy can't get a grip on what done made him so sick. Low and behold Willy done fall on the outhouse floor cause he is so weak!

Oh S%@&T says Willy as he looks toward the ceiling of the outhouse! The democrats done won the election and they done replaced his outhouse with a double decker.

Willy looks up from the bottom deck and all he can see as he looks up is someone reclining in the top bunker. Who up there cries Willy!

Its just me she snickers. You can call me :MADAM PRESIDENT!

AND YOU KNOW THAT WHAT I DO UP HERE IS GOING TO ROLL DOWN HILL!

LOOK OUT HERE IT COMES!!!!

PLEASE DONT LET WILLYS DREAM COME TRUE!

The Good Life - Retirement?

Willy just had the opportunity to walk over an 80 acre tract of land for sale. Mostly woods. Has a major creek running through it with the evidence of an old swimming hole. Deer abundant. Saw many turkey tracts. - Man Willy wishes he had this piece of ground.

Believe this is what Willy would want when he retires. Makes Willy want to retire.

But then I get in my email and find something like this talking about retirement:

I worked forty-five years for someone else, so that I could retire. I dreamed of sleeping late and sitting by the fire.

I dreamed of long vacations enjoying stage and song, but let me set you straight on that concept, it is simply wrong.

I did junk my safety glasses and the work boots that cramped my toes, but the rest of it had a mind of it's own and this is how it goes.
My wife had been thinking of retirement and had plans of her own. She had spent much time with the kids but now they are gone and grown.

We sold our cattle and horses so we wouldn't have that chore. I poured concrete over my alarm clock, but I still wake up at four.

I get my eyes checked on Monday. Ann gets hers checked the next day. I go for a colon check on Wednesday and pass my wife going the other way.

I have a dental appointment on Thursday. Ann goes for a test on her heart. Friday we go get prescriptions filled and browse a while at Wal-Mart.

Saturday we just stay home and try to get the paper work right. We can't take any overnight trips 'cause we can't see to drive at night.

Restroom confusion keeps us out of church on Sunday and we really do hate that. There's nothing wrong with the restrooms we just can't remember where they're at.

We don't need to plan next week. Just make sure we can drive and not forget where the hospitals and clinics are. We'll need them to survive.

Once a week we visit the cemetery and it seems more like home each time we go. I look around at the headstones and see everyone I know.

So, don't build your castles too high, my friend, while strolling through the clover. This is a typical week in retirement and on Monday we start all over !

Press one for English?

I borrowed this one from the Hermit.

Excuse the mild curse word. I don't usually use this word in this context but this seems so appropriate.

It infuriates me to have to dial 1 for english.

Also, my bank ATM asks if you prefer Spanish or English. Why should I have to make a choice.

Spring Cleaning - In the Summer

Willy Before the Cleaning Started!

Willy done let the little wife talk him into the fact that the old house needed a little touch up, paint up, cleanup, mopup.... woa now.. Willy started to backup on that and the little wife done said to shutup and gave me a paint brush.

Well after two weeks of going to the paying job and coming home every night and working until Willy can't work no more, the job is done. Well, it aint done but it is all Willy and the wife are going to do. Boy is Willy tired.

Willy when the cleaning was done!

And for any of you that dont live in Arkansas in the summer time, you may not understand the outside part of the job. The weather is 95 degrees and about 90% humidity. It takes Willy's breath away just to step outside. And Willy had to work out in this.

Think I'll get back on the couch and see if the remote still works.

Flying Things

Willy done thought he was seeing an old M.A.S.H. episode the other day as he was driving down the road in the edge of the Ozarks. Cause you see Willy looks up in the air as he hears a helicopter fly over. What suprises Willy is that there is about a 100 ft rope hanging below the helicopter and it is carrying an orange bag through the air.

That is where it reminded Willy of the episode of MASH where they trade Colonel Potter's desk for something and the only way they can get it out is to pick it up with the Helicopter and fly it out. The last Colonel Potter sees of his Mahogany desk is as it flys off into the sunset hanging from the helicopter.

Well this site really intrigues Willy and he goes back to the Possum Grit Roadkill Cafe and Cantina and asks Juanita if she knew what was going on. You see Juanita is smart and she knows everything! Just ask her!

Well, the story is that this area is very strong in natural gas exploration, called the Fayetteville Shale Gas area and this has lead to a great deal of seismograph work. The helicopters belong to Global Geophysical and in the rough terrain they haul out cable to be hooked to a central reader. They drop these cable bags out and "cheap labor", probably with no green cards, trek out into the area and unfold these into a grid across a full section. These are all hooked up and holes are drilled to allow for small blasts to go off and be read by the seismograph.

After the reading are complete, the "cheap labor" rolls the cables back into their bags and they are again picked up by the helicopter.

An interesting site - for Hillbilly Willy!

Horror in Summer Camp

Willy done had some friends that took their kid to camp. In less than a week they done received this letter:

Dear Mom and Dad,

I've been here at summer camp for less than a week and I am in real trouble. Please come get me.

On my first day, I was wandering around and I found a piece of wood and began carving it with my Swiss Army knife the way Daddy showed me.

The next thing I know a counselor yelled at me to "freeze." He took my knife, then searched me like I was a criminal. Then he took me straight to the camp director. The director scolded me for bringing a lethal weapon, a symbol of pain and death, to camp? Then I was given a "verbal warning."

The next day, little Willy and I got bored, so we went into the woods to play army. We made guns out of a couple of branches. Then we made bullet noises as we fought the bad guys. Next thing we know we are off to the directors office. The director scolded us again. He said that there is so much war in the world because boys like us are taught to play war at an early age. He said that we were lucky he wasn't sending us home.

I decided right then and there that I was going to stay out of trouble. I even decided at lunch to say grace out loud and ask God to help me stay out of trouble, just like you taught met to do. Guess where that got me dad. Yep, back in the directors office.

Who do you think you are imposing your beliefs on others, I was asked. He said that my actions showed how "ignorant" and "insensitive" Americans are to other cultures; then he gave me another warning.

Well Mom & Dad, things got even worse the next day. During basket weaving I was sitting next to Mary, the prettiest girl I ever saw.

"Mary," I said, "you're so pretty you make me smile from ear to ear."

Well, next thing I know, I was carted off to the director again. He said I really bad this time. My behavior was called "boorish," and against the law. He said I should be sued for sexual harassment.

By the way, what is a "gender terrorist"?

By now I was really upset. But I had forgotten about it the next day when we played kickball. I kicked the ball really far and did really good. I was so happy, I screamed, "We win! We win!"

Well, that got me another trip to the director's office. This time I was called "insensitive" to the players on the other team. He said I hurt their "self-esteem." Then she asked me if Daddy was a Republican.

I figured by now that I'd better just keep to myself. So I got a jar out of the cafeteria and went into the woods. I got a bumblebee into the jar and put some flowers in there to keep him happy. I was poking holes in the top to let fresh air in when I was hauled off to the director again.

This time, the director was really mad. He yelled, who did I think I was doing something that would cause the death of an innocent bee? He said I had no respect for the Earth and people like me were responsible for global warming. I was told that I would be lucky if the world didn't end before I collect Social Security.

The director told me that I better get with the program -- there is no place in this world anymore for "thoughtless," "restless," "insensitive" boys like me. He said if I mess up one more time, he was kicking me out of the camp.

By the way, what is Ritalin?

Anyhow, you better plan on coming back here to get me. Tomorrow everybody is going for a hike in the woods. And I already picked some flowers to give to Mary.

Your son,

Tommy

Paris - A Changed Person!

Willy done believes from what he is hearing that Paris Hilton has done had a real experience and wants to really turn her life around. Willy done heard that Paris has made the following comments:

The 26-year-old Hilton Hotel heiress has said she wants to turn her life around. Speaking from a Los Angeles County jail facility, Paris Hilton told Barbara Walters that, "I used to act dumb. It was an act, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I am 26 years old now and it is a different time. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance."

Willy believes that the rest of the story comes from the father. This makes Willy really feel good about the chance that God has given her. The rest of the story is that despite the fact that Paris Hilton is currently behind bars for her reckless ways, and that she has announced she will abandon her previous reputation, reports indicate that when Paris Hilton makes it out of the Los Angeles County jail system, there will be a massive party waiting for her. In order to get her through the long, lonely nights in jail, Rick Hilton, the father of Paris Hilton, is planning a huge celebration for the day Paris is released from her 45-day jail sentence.

The New York Post has reported that Rick Hilton has been searching for the appropriate venue for a "Welcome back from jail" party for Paris. The report indicates that Rick Hilton has asked several clubs in Las Vegas to foot the bill for the honor of hosting the Paris Hilton release bash, including full accommodations, flights, and a fee of $50,000 in cash. A source close to the party plans has told the Post that both the Hard Rock and Pure night clubs have both said no to the "honor" of hosting the party, but the owner of the Palms in Sin City has not yet decided on whether his casino will host the event.

Come on now! Willy believes that with all of this information – maybe we are being a little too harsh on Paris.

Lets turn Paris loose and GET THE PARTY STARTED!!!!

Willy and the Computer

Willy done knows that the computer is a mighty tool...when it works. Willy done knows that when it doesn't work it may be good for an anchor off the edge of the fishing boat. Well, you might figure out that Willy has had computer problems this past week.

Friday night the thing works well. Runs fast.. runs smooth. No problems. Willy shuts the blame thing off and goes to bed. Willy gets up Saturday morning and the thing wont come on. Willy done thinks the cheap power supply that HP put in this thing is done gone out.

Well, Willy moves it to the side and cranks up the old standby. Willy is lucky to have an old standby. For you see about a year ago the old standby was the main thing. However, it went out and Willy decided it was "dead in the water" and Willy went out and bought him a new one. Just for fun though, Willy took it to a local computer fix it man and $75 and it was back up and running.

Well, Willy moved it to the side and kept the new one because it was bigger and better and faster and now it is deader. But it is now at "Mr. Fixit" and maybe with a little tender loving care and about $75 more it can be running again.

If it don't I might take it down to Juanita at the Possum Grit Cantina and Bar and see if she can fix it. She knows a little about everything. I know because she told me so.

Till then Willy hobbles a long with the old stand by. Guess there is a lesson in this somewhere. Anybody know what it is.
