May I be the first to say: I have no idea!?!?!
Now I'm just guessing that this is a picture of a bicycle wheel imprint on the sand. Is it? Where it is I have no idea?!? I'll need more clues before I can guess on that one.
It definitely looks like sand on a beach, but that leaves loads of places in the US. Willy, you said you were traveling across the USA, right? We're limited to the USA, aren't we?
